{feeling crafty} Filing Cabinet Up-do and The Dove Tree Giveaway
So my hubby and I decided we needed to get a filing cabinet. I think he'd finally had enough of tripping over the heaps of paper in our office.....and I was about done with getting in trouble when we could never find that one important document (oops)!!
Since we don't really have much floor space in our office, I figured I would get a 3 or 4-drawer cabinet that I would just tuck away in a closet....because let's face it, they aren't all that appealing to look at!
I just love how a coat of fresh paint and a few accessories can make me smile inside, even if it is when I'm filing papers (wink)!

My next issue with buying a filing cabinet was just that....buying it! Especially since it was going to be sitting in a closet! I searched a few office supply stores and I was shocked at how much a filing cabinet is to buy new! I actually ended up finding a 4-drawer cabinet through a local buy & sell group on facebook for $50! even better, we did a trade for some of my daughter's old baby clothes!
The cabinet was in pretty good condition; just a few bumps & bruises. I made a trip over to Canadian Tire, picked up a can of spray paint (have you seen the colour options for spray paint lately? impressive), spent a little time in the garage while the kiddos napped, and voila! An up-do for a boring ol' filing cabinet!

Did you notice the sweet fabric-covered magnets on my filing cabinet?! I found the hunky dory set over at The Dove Tree. Have a peek at Mia's collection of fabric-covered magnets and pushpins here. Aren't they wonderful?! Leave a comment saying which set is your favourite and you will be entered into the giveaway to win a set from Mia's shop! yay!

Cheery
Wet. grey. drizzly. cold.
Bright. cheery. colourful. simple.
These pretty roses were just what I needed to make me smile today.
Doesn't a girl always deserve a smile on a rainy day? Hoping you too will treat yourself to some flowers soon (wink).
It has been a (very) rainy day. And more to come.
Needed a bit of a cheer-up around here, so I bought myself some flowers at the grocery store, cut, arranged, and done.

Doodle & Juju Giveaway!
Looky.looky. A little gift for my Sydney bean! Ha! Maybe not so much a "gift", but Mama was excited to see this come in the mail the other day!
I came across the Park-it! mat on Etsy after searching "time-out". It was one of those days and I needed some inspiration to make time-outs a little more effective with my (almost) 2 year old. It didn't take me long to find Doodle & Juju's shop with their Park-it! portable time-out mats and I knew I had found my new little helper and my daughter's new friend (grin)!
But seriously, these mats aren't just super-cute...they are quite practical. They provide a spot that your child will recognize and know. And they are the perfect size to tuck into your bag and take anywhere. This is ideal for our little family, as we travel often, staying with the grandparents for days at a time.
A couple of photos with Syd and her Park-it! mat.
Doodle & Juju are going to give one lucky person a Park-it! mat of their choice! Those of you with toddlers (or soon-to-have-a-toddler).....this giveaway is for you! Or maybe you are looking for a birthday gift for a little someone? mom & dad will be thanking you later for this trendy and practical gift!
Here's how to enter. Head over to Doodle & Juju's Etsy shop here or their website here. Come back and leave a comment telling me which Park-it! mat you would choose if you won. While you are there, check out the other wonderful products including the Blankopotamus Blankies, the Diaper/Wipe Clutch, and the eco-friendly breast pads.

{new Mia} Shabby Red Rose & Cream Lace
I wanted to share the new Mia Headband.......isn't she a pretty little thing (wink)?! A dainty shabby red rose with a ruby red pearl centre on a skinny black elastic headband. But I think it's the cream vintage lace accent that makes this headband extra-sweet.

Hoot
Wowzers. I. am. tired.
My little guy has become quite the night owl lately. So here I sit with my (extra large. extra strong) cup of coffee, hoping my brain will turn "on" soon (smile).
I seem to have a "thing" for owls lately, and I even have some ideas of incorporating them into Hudson's nursery (it's fitting right?!). I came across this bedding from Dwell Studio the other day.
I love the whimsy pattern and the colours are wonderful for a boy's room. Hmmm.... so many ideas. Last night I went "owl hunting" over at Etsy.
Head over to I Sew Lucky's Etsy shop here to find an amazing assortment of owls like these.
Oodles of Colour has designed this sweet little baby shower invite here.
A trendy recycled tote bag. Find it here.
Oooh. I love this. This vinyl wall art and growth chart can be customized with other colours too. Find it here.
So the caffeine has settled in and I'm ready (well...as ready as I'm going to be!) to start the day. I envy those of you who are just waking up. And for those of you who are still snuggled in your cozy beds....I really don't need to hear about it later!!

Shhh....I have a secret.
I really don't have a secret, but doesn't this sweet t-shirt kind of make you want to have one (wink)! I am actually kind of sad I didn't come across Zoey's Attic Etsy shop a year ago when we found out we were pregnant with our 2nd child! Creator and owner, Erin has designed some seriously cute attire for big brother/sister and little brother/sister.
Check out Erin's shop here or visit the Zoey's Attic website here. There are so many great designs....and they are not all just for the kiddies either!
How sweet is this birthday shirt?!

Ducks in a row...
Not sure what it is lately, but I am sooo feeling like that crazy neighbor lady. You know...the one who comes to the door dressed in her nightgown, with some crazy bedhead, a baby on one hip crying, and a dirty-faced toddler running around in a diaper drawing on the walls, a dog barking in the background, and cats that seem to be coming out from nowhere?? okay...I only have one kitty, but the rest is so my life!! Hehee. All I can do is laugh right?! or cry!!
So yeah, my life is crazy! but good (grin). Just needs a bit of tidying-up and organization! And it all starts tomorrow morning (more specifically at approximately 6am when my almost-2 year old walks in and says "HI")! But before we begin, I need some inspiration...

Love this cream lace print on a steel memo board. Find it here.
And this dry erase family calendar looks great dressed in a vintage frame. Find it here.
p.s. I'll let you know if the crazy neighbor lady moves out!!
